Charmian believes in the power of business as a force for good.
An experienced entrepreneur, intrapreneur and systempreneur, Charmian splits her time between Saïd Business School at University of Oxford, where she she teaches on the Circular Economy and is Entrepreneur in Residence, and London where she is Chair of B Lab UK and a Trustee of B Team UK.
She also sits on the Investment Committee at LWARB and the Sustainability Committee at ICAEW (because she believes Accountants Can Save The World). Charmian is one of the co-founders of Volans, an adventure she began after moving from her hometown of Toronto. You can get a feel for some of Charmian’s thinking in pieces she has contributed to publications including HBR, Wired, Fast Company, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Pioneers Post and The Guardian.
She holds a BAH in art history from Queen's University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Amanda believes that any investor, policymaker and entrepreneur can manage their impact to do less bad and more good.
Previously at Bridges Fund Management and Volans, Heliotropy gives her the space to encourage unusual suspects to do more, better, faster.
She continues to shape and support the Impact Management Project, focused on making it easier to talk about, measure and manage impact. She is also an Advisor on Monitoring and Evaluation to the Board of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), a non-executive Board Member at Bethnal Green Ventures, a BMW Foundation UK Responsible Leader, a mentor at MAZE-X and a member of Sandbox.
She holds a B.A. in English and Spanish literature from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Public Administration from the London School of Economics.
